I had another big package of ground turkey and some left over herbs and I wanted to figure out something fun to do with it. So, I decided to go with a make a Thanksgiving themed "burger". I mixed in some onions and herbs and made a versatile and savory burger.
Thanksgiving Themed Turkey Burger
Yields 4 qty - 4oz patties
4SP per serving

Ingredients

1 lbs ground Turkey (93% lean)
1 cups onion minced
1 package fresh poultry herbs (Rosemary, Sage, Thyme – found in produce section)

Instructions

  1. remove the rosemary, sage and thyme from their stems
  2. mince the herbs and onion in a food processor
  3. mix the herb and onion mixture into the ground turkey
  4. separate the turkey into 4 oz patties
  5. cook in a pan (or grill pan) until they reach an internal temp of 165F

Notes:
  • In the photo, we served this on a single serving of stuffing with a variation on the apricot glaze recipe from the Turkey Meatloaf recipe
  • Polaner Sugar Free Blackberry jam also works well as a topping (and is a good stand-in for cranberries for this recipe)
  • Including the stuffing, the meal pictured was 8 SP
  • Another night, we had the left overs on a bun like a regular hamburger. It was delicious!
